Your first experience with spirit can be quite a shock. Spirit often has to shout loudly to get your attention, otherwise most people wouldn’t notice them.
Many people notice the presence of spirit after losing someone close, or going through a difficult break up, or some other traumatic experience.
Spirit always shows up when you need it most. When you start out on your spiritual journey, you need to create quiet space for yourself. You can do this through sitting, walking, running, cleaning, lying down … anything that helps your mind to stop and listen.
The first signs of contact can be anything from actually seeing spirit clearly, almost in human form, or seeing a shadow, or a visual image that fades in and out, to hearing your name being shouted, or a whisper in your ear, or a voice in your head.
Some people experience random visions in their mind’s eye, that seem to come from nowhere. Others feel the sense of walking into a wall of energy, or notice arbitrary smells. I saw spirit first, and heard them. They were almost in human form, but had a blue glow and a different energy to most people. My first contact was with my guide when I was 4. Back then she had long black hair; these days she has long silver radiant hair.
I’m sure I am the cause of that now shiny silver hair, the stress of watching over me all these years …
Soon after I was introduced to my guide, I saw my nan. Nan had more of a white glow, but other than that, looked and sounded very similar to how I’d remembered her.
Over the years my form of communication has changed to ensure I receive the most detailed messages. I’m sure it will continue to evolve over the years.
Others first feel the touch of spirit, maybe a gentle tickle on the side of the face, the holding of a hand, or a brush over the arm. Spirit can pull your leg or jump on you for fun. Spirits can be very playful. I was doing platform readings at a church once, when I had the spirit of a dog come in and start licking my hand just before I started my readings.
The best way to understand communication with spirit, is to understand the other side.
